Tuesday 25th July saw Village’s first pre-season game at the home of Boldmere Sports MFL team. The final score was Boldmere 3 Village 5 (Ben Hess 25, 27, 3 ; James Westwood 58; Jon Boukhobza (pen) 72). Despite going a goal behind from a lapse in concentration, we dominated the first half with a confident possession game and were 3-1 up at the break. Sam Godsall made one or two great saves; Aaron Hill and James Wallace were an impressive centre-back combination and Tom Arnold and Dave Phillips also impressed alongside the regulars. Half-time changes upset our rhythm a little but an exchange of goals meant we were always in control. MoM Ben Hess.

Saturday 12th August saw two Village sides enjoy contrasting fortunes. In the morning the D team traveled to Wake Green E and, after going behind early on, showed impressive pre-season form in running out 5-1 winners. Goals from Tom Bates; Junior Soares; Alfredo Campos; Adam Khan and Ben Hastings. Adam Khan was one of 3 who then traveled across town to Aston where a curious mix of B and C teamers and trialists, boosted by the inclusion of Simon Webber, Aaron and Garry Dawson took on FC Stratford. It wasn’t an even contest but we were far from disgraced in the circumstances despite the 1-6 scoreline.
