October 30th at Boldmere St Michaels was the scene of Village’s first silverware of 2018-19 as they triumphed 6-1 in the game between last year’s Premier Division Champions and the Senior Cup winners – Aston. Village gave Aston no time to settle and Fred Smith put Jon Boukhobza in to open the scoring in the 1st minute. Aston equalised on 24 minutes but 4 minutes later Tom Liddington set up Mike Robbs for a spectacular second from out on the touchline. Robbs then turned provider for Boukhobza’s second and the teams turned round at 3-1. It seemed tight up til then with lots to do in the second half but once Fred Smith set Mark Moloney up for his opening goal shortly after half-time the sting went out of Aston and another goal from man of the match Moloney and one he created for Gary Dawson sealed the deal and completed a scoreline which made what had been a competitive game sound easy.
